UoN Student Portal

A student information management system that facilitates communication between students and the university is the student portal of the University of Nairobi (UON).

Register on the UON Student portal

1. The application reference number is used when a new student enrolls in the university without having received a registration number.

2. To receive a registration number, enter the reference number in the box that appears below the login information.

To obtain your assigned student registration number, click “Get Allocated Registration Number” in step three.

4. Completing the registration procedure requires that you follow the directions.

UoN Student Portal Login

To access the student portal, click the button above. To access the login screen, type https://smis.uonbi.ac.ke/ into the portal’s web URL.

Step 1: Completely type in your university registration number. Make sure you correctly enter the digits and numbers. While I20 is a letter rather than a digit, C01 is zero without an O.

Step 2: Enter the password

Step 3: Press the Enter key.

To Change UoN Student Portal Password

Don’t panic if you lose the password to your UoN student portal account. On the portal’s home page, you must click the Forget password link.

Your registration number and the email address you provided when signing up will be required.

You will receive an email with a link to change your password. To update the password, click the link and adhere to the directions.

What services are available through the UoN student portal?

The student portal at UoN provides a range of services, including: Student fees, schedules, registration for courses, outcomes, inquiries, Room reservation, password change, student ID, and transfers between faculties Status of UON clearance, Academic Tracking, Refund of Caution Money

1. Tuition fees

You may see a ledger here that details what is owed on the registered courses, what has already been paid, and what is still owed or has been overpaid. Additionally, it includes information about the bank accounts to use and how to pay the fees.

2. Time Tables

The class schedule for the registered units will be available to you. You will also see the schedule for the exam and any other significant events.

3. Registration for Courses

You can browse the courses offered here and decide which ones to register for. This is a crucial step if you want to enroll in university coursework. If you haven’t signed up for the course, you won’t be allowed to attend the class.

4. Exam Results

These are the results from your course’s major exam, term papers, projects, and any other examinable assignments. The tentative result slip can be printed from the portal.

5. Enquires and Questions

Use the portal to ask questions about exams, incomplete results, and missing marks.

6. Room Booking and Reservations

Only through the student portal will you be able to reserve and receive a hostel room assignment. Select the residence hall, check out the available rooms, then make a reservation to pay for the room.

7. Changing Portal Password

when you want to switch the password for one that is easier to remember. To increase security and prevent hacking, make sure your password is safe by using alpha numeric characters.

8. Student ID Request

Apply online through the portal for a student ID. Exam cards will also be accessible through the web and printed there. Without the student exam card, you will not be permitted to enter the exam room.

9. Transfers between faculties

For new students who want to transfer from the classes they were admitted into to new courses, this is extremely helpful. This may occur inside the same faculty or among various campuses, but it all happens at the University of Nairobi.

10. Clearance

When your studies are complete, you will be able to complete clearance through the portal. If you have not been cleared by all necessary university departments, your name won’t be on the list of graduates.

11. Refund of Caution Money

Every new student is required to pay caution money when they enroll at the university. This money is intended to cover any unforeseen circumstances during the student’s time at the university. You will need to claim the caution money once the course is over. The only way to do this is via the student portal.

12. Academic Monitoring

This will entail keeping tabs on your academic development. The degree program’s required units, what you have completed, and what is left will all be displayed on the portal. All units will be marked as passed or failed, and the decision to move on to the next level will be made.

13. Student Email

All correspondence between University of Nairobi employees and students is sent via UoN email. Additionally, UoN emails must be used by students to communicate, create mail groups, submit assignments, and exchange online files and projects. You must register for an email account in the student portal.
