Kenya has had GOtv, a digital pay TV, since 2011, when the country switched from analog to digital public TV. Multichoice, a huge media company in South Africa, owns GOtv.
GOtv has different bundles that include different networks and cost different amounts per month. You have to pay a monthly fee to use the stations, or you can pay for the whole year at once.
A decoder with an antenna is used by GOtv to pick up the terrestrial feed. The decoder will break down the digital signal so that a TV that is not digital can still show stations.

GOtv Paybill Number 423655
GOtv came up with the paybill number to make it easy for customers to pay their bills and get back on the air. You can pay for your GOtv package without having to go to a Multichoice store. You only need money in your M-Pesa account and the decoder’s IUC number. This is the number written in red at the bottom of the decoder.
Here are the steps you need to take to pay for your package using GOtv paybill number 423655.
Note: When making payment, ensure your decoder is ON.
- You can get to the Mpesa Menu from the SIM tool kit or the my Safaricom app.
- Select Lipa na Mpesa
- Click on Paybill.
- Enter 423655 as the business number. This is the number on your GOtv bill.
- Enter your GOtv decoder’s IUC number, which has a red sticker on the bottom.
- Type in how much you want to pay.
- Type in your Mpesa PIN and hit OK.
- Mpesa will send you a message to let you know that the exchange went through.
In just a few minutes, GOtv will update the payment, and you’ll be able to watch your favorite station.
Even if you pay your bill, you might not be able to watch the station you want. Instead, you might see E16 on your screen. Most of the time, this happens when the payment is made while the decoder is off. You have to fix this error before you can watch your favorite stations again.
Error 16 can be fixed in one of these three ways;
Send the word RESET and your IUC number to 22688 in a text message.
Dial *423# on your phone and do what it tells you to do to fix the problem.
